A double chance bet is common type of bet popular with bettors all around the globe.

In order to improve your understanding of betting, this guide will explain in more detail how a double chance bet works.

DOUBLE CHANCE BET

When you bet on which team will win or lose a game, you have three options.

These three options are:

A)     1 – Team A / Home Team wins (Team B Loses)

B)      2 – Team B / Away Team wins (Team A loses)

C)       X – It ends in a draw (nobody wins or loses)

Usually, you are allowed to stake on one option. This means that you can choose to stake on team A winning, team B winning, or on the draw.

However, when it comes to a double chance bet, you can pick from two of the three possible options.

This means that you can go for:

a)      1X

b)     12

c)      X2

OPTION 1 – 1X

a)      1 – Team A / Home Team wins (Team B Loses)

b)     X – They have the same score (nobody wins or loses)

OPTION 2 – 12

a)      1 – Team A / Home Team wins (Team B Loses)

b)     2 – Team B / Away Team wins (Team A loses)

OPTION 3 – X2

a)      X – They have the same score (nobody wins or loses)

b)     2 – Team B / Away Team wins (Team A loses)

In summary, with double chance bets, you can pick from:

·         1X: home team win or draw

·         12: home team win or away team win

·         2X: away team win or draw

DOUBLE CHANCE BETS VERSUS DRAW NO BETS

The difference between double chance bets and draw no bets is clear. In draw no bet, the draw option is excluded and in the case of a draw, your stake is returned to you. Draw no bets aim to increase the odds if your win, but with a draw your stake is just returned.

On the other hand, double chance bets increase your chances of landing a return, but at shorter odds. While draw no bets remove the option of drawing by returning your stake to you if they draw and only allowing you to pick who wins or loses, double chance bets allow you to cover two of the three possible options.

Both options are quite different from 1X2 bets that ask you to pick from three main options.

ARE DOUBLE CHANCE BETS ADVISABLE TO PLAY?

Like every other bet type, double chance bets have their pros and cons. In order to decide whether it is right for you, consider the situation. Since double chance allows you to pick two options, your chances of losing the bet are reduced but the odds offered will reflect this. You must weigh up which type of bet works for you.

For example, thinking of betting on Barcelona?

Since the Spanish side have not lost a Champions League match at Camp Nou since 2013, may be advisable to pick a 1X bet. this means that the home team, Barca, will either win or draw but will not lose.

In order to maximise your chances of winning from double chance bets, always study the respective strengths of the teams that will be playing.
